Here’s How Your Midheaven Can Help You Find More Joy in Your Business

Sun, Moon, and Rising signs get a lot of attention on social media these days. But if you want to understand your potential as a business owner, look to your Midheaven. Keep reading to find out how this lesser-known astrological placement holds the key to shining your brightest at work and finding more joy along your vocational path.

The Sacred Quest

Often understood nowadays as a “job”, the word vocation stands for something much deeper and more multidimensional than this mundane meaning.

Vocation comes from the Latin word vocare, meaning to call, invoke, or name. Before our fixation on job identification (e.g., “I’m a doctor/lawyer/teacher”), our vocation defined our spiritual calling. A sacred quest to follow our own passion and authentic inner voice. This calling is the reason so many of us start a business in the first place.

Your vocation evolves throughout your life. Turning with you on the karmic wheel, it transforms as you do. New layers of your calling are revealed as your energetic vibration shifts.

Your vocation is a part of you, a unique resonance that whispers from the heart. When you ignore it or label it too hard, silly, or strange, you limit the infinite nature of your being. You stifle your capacity to inspire great change and love through your daily actions.

Carl Jung proposed that following the call of your vocation is to follow the voice of your soul and in doing so, you become more conscious and blaze your own unique trail outside the well-worn path of societal expectations and norms.

Your birth chart holds a variety of clues about your vocation. Your Midheaven is one of the most powerful pieces of the puzzle.

Your Midheaven: What it is and where to find it

Your Midheaven is the point in the sky where the Sun was at its highest on your birthday. It’s light was most visible at this point, glittering and beaming onto Earth.

This point is a symbolic mirror. It represents how you shine brightly in the world. Found at the top of your birth chart, your Midheaven is most often related to your vocation, profession, legacy, and public image. It holds a key to how people know you and the kind of work you do in the world.

Your Midheaven is easy to find with a free natal chart calculator. It’s important that you know your birth time. Once you have your chart, look for the “MC” indicator near the top. (Fun fact: “MC” is short for Medium Coeli, which translates to “middle of the sky” in Latin.)

The sign your Midheaven is placed in shows qualities that support your vocation, ambitions, and contributions in the world.

You can imagine it as:

  • the highest tower of your cathedral

  • where the gaze of others is drawn to

  • the point where you are most visible to the masses

  • where you are closest to the cosmos themselves
